Areas, availability and lesson arrangements

Where ProPasser teaches, who the lessons suit and how appointments are arranged.

Does ProPasser offer manual or automatic driving lessons?

Where will I be collected for my driving lesson?

Most learners are collected from home. Collection can also be arranged from school, college or work when agreed in advance.

Can my lesson start and finish at different locations?

Yes. A lesson can start and finish at different locations, provided sufficient notice is given and both locations are within the ProPasser coverage area.

What days and times are driving lessons available?

Lessons are available Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 9:30pm. The final two-hour lesson normally starts at 7:30pm. Weekend lessons are not currently available.

Do you teach complete beginners and learners changing instructors?

Yes. ProPasser welcomes complete beginners, learners transferring from another instructor and drivers returning after a break. Your current experience and learning needs will be assessed before an appropriate lesson plan is created.

What is the current waiting time for driving lessons?

Availability changes as existing learners pass their tests and spaces become available. Message ProPasser on WhatsApp with your postcode and preferred lesson times for the latest availability.

Prices, payments and booking policies

Lesson prices, block bookings, payment and what happens when plans change.

How long is a standard driving lesson?

Standard ProPasser lessons last two hours. This provides enough time to practise skills properly, experience different local road conditions and receive useful feedback without rushing.

How much are manual driving lessons?

A two-hour manual lesson costs £70. A 10-hour manual block costs £340, a 20-hour block costs £640, and Pass Plus training costs £300.

Does ProPasser offer block-booking discounts?

Yes. A 10-hour block costs £340, saving £10 compared with individual lessons. A 20-hour block costs £640, saving £60.

How do I pay for driving lessons?

Lessons and block bookings are paid by bank transfer. Payment details will be provided when your lesson or booking is arranged.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange a lesson. When sufficient notice is given, ProPasser will try to rearrange the lesson within the same week without charge, subject to availability. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will normally be charged.

Do block-booked lesson credits expire?

No. Block-booked lesson credits do not expire. If you cancel a block booking, you will receive a refund for the remaining unused credit. Lessons already taken and any lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be deducted.

Learning, progress and test preparation

How lessons are structured, how progress is recorded and how test readiness is assessed.

What types of roads and driving situations will I experience?

Lessons can cover busy urban traffic, residential roads, rural roads, dual carriageways, the A19, complex junctions and large roundabouts across Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland. The exact content depends on your experience and readiness.

Will I be taught specific driving-test routes?

ProPasser teaches you to drive safely and independently rather than simply memorising test routes. The aim is to prepare you to manage unfamiliar roads and situations confidently, allowing you to take your practical test at any suitable test centre.

Does ProPasser offer intensive driving courses?

ProPasser does not currently offer intensive driving courses. Tuition is normally delivered through structured two-hour sessions so that skills and confidence can develop consistently.

Do you conduct mock driving tests?

Mock-test preparation forms part of the ProPasser syllabus for existing learners. It is introduced when appropriate and helps identify whether a learner can drive independently while managing the pressure and structure of a practical test. Standalone mock tests for learners taught elsewhere are not currently offered.

Can ProPasser help me prepare for my theory test?

Yes. Theory knowledge is supported during practical tuition by connecting road signs, rules, hazards and decision-making to real driving situations. You can begin lessons before passing your theory test, but you must pass it before booking a practical test.

How is my progress tracked?

ProPasser uses a comprehensive driving syllabus to ensure every important skill is introduced, practised and developed to an independent standard. Progress is recorded so that you and Jamie can see what has been completed, what needs further work and how close you are to being test-ready.

How do you decide when somebody is ready for their driving test?

Test readiness is based on consistent, safe and independent driving rather than simply the number of lessons completed. You should be able to manage different roads, traffic conditions and unfamiliar situations without significant prompting. Mock-test performance and progress across the complete ProPasser syllabus also contribute to the decision.

How many driving lessons will I need?

There is no fixed or legally required number of lessons. The amount of tuition needed depends on your existing experience, learning pace, private practice and ability to drive safely without assistance.

Practical tests and local test centres

Test-centre preparation, using the ProPasser car and what you need before your test.

Which driving test centres does ProPasser prepare learners for?

ProPasser prepares learners for practical tests at Sunderland, Gateshead, South Gosforth, Blyth and Durham test centres. Because tuition focuses on independent driving rather than memorised routes, learners are prepared to manage unfamiliar roads at any suitable test centre.

Can I use the ProPasser car for my practical test?

Existing learners can normally use the ProPasser car once they have demonstrated that they are test-ready. A practical-test booking usually requires approximately two hours, although this varies with the test centre and travel time, and is charged at the normal lesson rate. Use of the car cannot be guaranteed if the required safe and independent standard has not been reached.

Do I need a provisional driving licence before my first lesson?

Yes. You must hold a valid provisional driving licence before taking driving lessons or practising on public roads.

What happens during the practical driving test?

The practical test includes an eyesight check, vehicle-safety questions, general driving ability, independent driving and a reversing exercise. Your lessons will prepare you to demonstrate these skills safely and independently.

Motorways, refresher lessons and Pass Plus

Broader experience for confident learners and additional development after passing.

Do you offer motorway driving lessons?

Yes. Motorway tuition is available when Jamie considers the learner sufficiently experienced and ready to drive safely at higher speeds. Motorway experience is optional before the practical test but can help a suitable learner build confidence and broader experience.

Does ProPasser offer refresher lessons for qualified drivers?

Yes. Refresher lessons are available for qualified drivers who want to rebuild confidence, return after a break or improve skills such as motorway driving, parking, roundabouts or unfamiliar road situations.

What is Pass Plus?

Pass Plus is additional development for qualified drivers who want to broaden their skills and confidence after passing. It takes at least six hours and covers town driving, rural roads, different weather conditions, night driving, dual carriageways and motorways. There is no final test, but your driving is assessed throughout. ProPasser offers Pass Plus for £300.
